Jelly Roll Brought to Tears On Stage After Seeing Heartbreaking Sign from Young Girl
During the Barefoot Country Music Festival in New Jersey, which took place from June 19 to 22 this year, Jelly Roll became emotional after noticing a young girl in the crowd holding up a deeply touching sign.
A TikTok user recorded the moment from the concert’s Jumbotron, showing Jelly Roll on one side of the big screen and the young girl and her sign on the other. The footage captures the exact moment Jelly Roll reads the sign and pauses mid-song, taking a second to compose himself as the young girl breaks down in tears.
The two share a moving duet of his song “I Am Not Okay,” from his 2024 album *Beautifully Broken*. The song speaks about pain, grief, and the hope found in difficult times:
“I know, I can’t be the only one
Who’s holding on for dear life
But God knows, I know
When it’s all said and done
I’m not okay
But it’s all gonna be alright.”
As Jelly Roll sings the words, “I know, I can’t be the only one, Who’s holding on for dear life,” he points at the girl, letting her know she isn’t alone. Despite her tears, she sings every word with him.
The young blonde girl’s sign explained that her “Mom-mom” had passed away the previous August and that she wrote Jelly Roll’s lyrics in her journal. Her sign read:
“Jelly Roll, my mom-mom died last August. She wrote your lyrics in her journal. If she could, she would be here!”
The moment touched not only Jelly Roll but also thousands of viewers online. The TikTok comment section was filled with emotional responses:
